Well, what they call the “brim” is the body part of the hat that wraps around the head, knit in garter stitch, sideways. It's just a big strip of garter stitch, and once it's long enough, its grafted together to make a round piece for the hat. Then stitches are picked up all along one side and knit around for the crown.

Regarding the incognita hat. Help! I can not understand from the beginning starting with the brim. Is it crochet? how many to cast on it says 8 but the brim looks wider than 8. What am I missing? Sometimes these directions are so pared down that they leave out the simple essential.

I really love this book. Actually, I have a review of it in the November KP catalog, and I wrote the description for the website. I was also a big fan of the knitted dresses in this book. I don’t even wear a lot of dresses! I’m thinking about wearing the folded mini dress to wear to work though. We should have a Reversible KAL!

Wow! That book does rock! I’m so impressed by the talented designers out there who turn knitting on its head, just like you by the way. Thanks for reviewing the book. I’ll watch out for it at the book store.

Oh! I am so glad you reviewed this book and posted more pictures as well! I’ve been looking forward to it, mesmerized by the jacket and swatches on the cover. I love the Wenlan Chia sweater, and the swatches look like so much fun!
